After designing the text and layout of your banner it's ready to be printed. When printing make sure you have chosen the best materials to create a resilient banner that will be able to withstand the elements.

Vinyl Banners

Vinyl banners are printed using computer controlled systems. Computer controlled jets spray paint onto banners. The jets are controlled by plotting software which converts an image in the computers memory into a printed image on the banner.

Solvent and water based semi-solvent inks are used to print banners. Some printers are capable of printing over 1500 square feet per hour which is useful for large jobs such as banners for skyscrapers.

Ink Jet Printing

Ink jet printing is an effective method for printing vinyl and other kinds of banners. Ink jet printing is performed on a press which allows large quantities and sizes of banners to be produced by computer.

Ink jet printing is conducted using presses which process the banner on a similar set-up to a production line. The vinyl for the banner is kept in large rolls which are fed into the press. Once the vinyl is loaded the image of the design is sent to the press computer where it is divided into four smaller images. The press uses special inks which print the banner in a similar manner to a household inkjet printer but on a much larger scale.

Inkjet printing has strong advantages over other forms of printing especially for use in vinyl banner printing. Inkjet printing is useful as the press is controlled by computer it is easy to create one banner or run off large quantities. If you are ordering a large quantity of banners inkjet printing also becomes cheaper as the quantity increases as the set up cost is divided further over more banners. Also as the press runs on a system similar to production line size is not an issue. Large designs can be created in one piece which means no visible seams and no assembly required sewing the pieces together. Inkjet printing can also be used on other materials such as muslin, mesh, cloth, canvas and many different forms of vinyl.

Inkjet printing provides a long lasting, durable finish for vinyl banners which makes them particularly tough for hanging outdoors. Dye sublimation can also be used to create a better effect for up close, indoors viewing.
